Purpose & Methods: In order to compare the occurrence of spherical equivalent error between subjective refraction and objective refraction(using autorefractometer) according to cylindrical refractive error, over-refraction was performed from contact lens wearers.
Results: The differences of measured values by objective refraction in contrast to subjective refraction on wearing 5 types contact lens, in cases of one-day soft contact lens, 6-month contact lens and silicon-hydrogel contact lens, there was the biggest error of spherical equivalent in group B(-0.25~-0.75D of cylindrical refractive error). In cosmetic color contact lens, there was the biggest error in group D(up to -2.00D). In RGP contact lens, there was the biggest error in group A(0.00D). But their differences were no more than 0.10D, it was not significant clinically.
Conslusion: From these results, autorefractometer should be an useful objective refraction in actual affairs.
